Mountain

Although I rather enjoyed the article series I started on the ECS implementation in UE5, circumstances have changed a little and I'm no longer working in Unreal!

I have returned to Ubisoft and joined the team at Reflections in the Leamington office, formally as Lead Gameplay Programmer but in actual continuing in AI and leading the AI team on <redacted> :) It's great to be back at Ubi and back in touch with a lot of friends and colleagues in the wider studio network, and having an exciting and challenging project to get stuck into. Getting back up to speed in a lead role again is considerably more draining on me mentally at the moment so there's little mental capacity left in the evenings to code on personal projects, so this site is likely to be quiet for a while until I settle in. (Also I've gone hard on my climbing training to try and break through some grade barriers and spending more time in the gym).

The site graphics have been annoying for a while so they've been spruced up a bit having a dabble with Midjourney, fun little tool to play with, although surprisingly hard to manipulate to do what you want, quite the learning curve, but either way it's good to get hands-on experience working with generative AI. Anyone working in the tech and creative fields that isn't getting these skills on their CV is going to be in trouble in a few years, so make the most of these tools being available relatively cheaply right now!
